The Colourpatch Augusta is relaxed, welcoming, and perfectly suited to that coastal-holiday mood. I booked a table outside, on the small deck, but I needn’t had bothered. Inside the beautiful, open dining room huge windows are opened to let the inlet view in. A view over the water sort of setting that encourages you to slow down and stay a little longer than you planned.

A cafe, restaurant, and takeaway, The Colourpatch is right on the edge of the Hardy Inlet. The dining room has massive windows that look right out over the water, it’s a gorgeous view.

Enjoy the view, with a cocktail or mocktail.

… that’s made at the stunning timber boat bar.

The menu has plenty of choice with plenty of share plates, pizzas, and a solid kids’ menu for the grandies. We enjoyed a very casual meal, sharing crisp fried squid topped with gochujang mayo, ginger-sweet chili, and atjar pickles.

Locally caught crumbed whiting was delicious.

And then a very tasty BBQ charred chicken pizza with mozzarella and pickled onions.

We visited during the busy summer holidays period, service was minimal, as ordering is via the bar. The Colourpatch is easily one of the best dining spots in town, whether you’re grabbing a quick takeaway to eat on the grass or settling in for a long brunch, lunch or dinner. My advice: aim for a time of day when the golden hour light is doing its thing and let the scenery do what it does best.
