The Hamptons, City Beach

The Hamptons, City Beach

Together with Odyssea, The Hamptons is one of the stand-out restaurants at City Beach. Equally at home serving food to customers walking in straight from a swim at the beach or enjoying a special occasion dinner, The Hamptons is a good choice for views and food.

The Hamptons, City Beach

We travelled down for Sunday brunch and all five of us enjoyed our meals.

We sat out on the balcony overlooking City Beach’s golden sands where we were highly entertained by the surf lifesaving’s club Nippers competitions.

We started with tea and coffee and I was delighted to find that tea was served in a china cup – very outdated but very nice.

Three of our group opted for the Big Breakfast that included two eggs, bacon, sautéed spinach and mushrooms, chipolatas, tomato, hash browns and spicy beans ($25.50). My daughter decided on the Haloumi and spring onion waffle ($21) with grilled chorizo, poached egg and chipotle mayonnaise. My son-in-law had the house made waffles with maple syrup and ice cream ($16) and added extra bacon for $4. We all enjoyed our meals although the fried eggs came hard rather than the requested ‘over easy’.

The Hamptons is a large venue with seating in different areas. The Bubbles Lounge has comfortable chairs and tables suitable for a casual morning coffee or pre-dinner drinks. The Beachside Bar and deck area is great for having a drink while enjoying looking out to the Indian Ocean, but do pick the Restaurant for a birthday or anniversary dinner. The Hamptons is fully licensed and has a large selection of wines and spirits.

While the food was good and the views excellent, the service was slow and not that friendly. However we will go back to try out the lunch or dinner menu and just hope that on that particular Sunday morning, we caught the staff on a bad day.

There is a lot of parking available at City Beach but the areas near to the restaurants fills up quickly. If you visit at the weekend odds are that you will only find parking at the largest car park – a five or ten minute walk to the Hamptons.
