The Wanneroo Botanic Gardens and Mini Golf is fun for all ages and a lovely spot to spend with family and friends. On arrival we were supplied with score cards, pen, golf club and one ball each. As a bonus the score card has a discount coupon attached to it for popcorn, honey and a discount to the maze for the summer season.
My granddaughter and I teed off at 9:15am in the attempt to complete all 18 holes in the least number of strokes. It is stipulated that all children need to be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times, but mini golf really does bring out the child within you.
My grand daughter and I had such a great time, I haven’t laughed so much in ages at our own silliness, we had a ball! As there is no time limit you can progress along the course at your own pace through the 5 acres of spectacular gardens. So make sure you allow yourself at least 1 ½ hours of fun, where you can take in the gardens along the winding paths, leading to waterfalls and a pond full of large koi.
The first tee is shaded as are most of the holes and as you amble through the undergrowth to each area, the vegetation changes as if you are in a jungle. At most of the tees there are rest areas with seats or benches allowing you to rest and take in the beautiful and tranquil sights as you listen to the birds happily singing in the trees above you. Some of the trails around the course are grassed and some are pathed with uneven crazy paving, making it a bit of a challenge for people in wheelchairs or the very senior, but with a little help from a friend both are able to negotiate the course and gardens. The Wanneroo Botanic Gardens and Mini Golf are currently designing a brand new mini golf course for the future so keep an eye out for this. Along with the existing mini golf course there is billiard golf for the pool enthusiast, where you deflect the ball off the side rails before entering the hole. They also have a popular night golf with light up golf balls.
As you wander through the bush you come across a stunning area overlooking a waterfall and pond where many weddings are performed. It is suitable for up to 150+ guests, this is called the Wedding Deck. There are toilets and rest rooms at the beginning of the course and along the way, both have access for wheelchairs
There is a large parking area and disability parking as well as an emergency assembly area at the front of the car park in case of evacuation of the venue.
