Odyssea in City Beach is one of Perth’s very best oceanside dining spots. With absolute beachfront views, this restaurant is perfect for a sunset dinner or a lazy brunch on a warm, sunny day.
Booking a table by phone or online is so easy, you even have the option of dining inside in the light and bright dining room, on the balcony, or on the side deck. We choose the balcony every time – for those sweeping views over City Beach.
Drinks
One thing that always strikes us at Odyssea, is that the wait staff are so quick to take our drinks order – which is fantastic for when we’re in dire need of caffeine! The Fiori coffee always hits the spot.
There’s also many varieties of tea available including English breakfast, earl grey blue flower, green sencha peppermint, ginger lemongrass hibiscus, chamomile, Pai mu tan (white tea), Tibetan flower & berry Prosperi-T (chai tea).
Coffee and cake lovers will enjoy the freshly baked treats found in the cabinet.
If you’re enjoying a long lunch or dinner. The extensive wine list has all sorts on offer, whether you like your vino structured with a bit of fruit, delicate and light, or zesty and crispy.
Before breakfast arrived we indulged in some peach bellinis. I’m all for a boozy brunch. This bit of fizz (Prosecco and peach puree) was very tasty and went to my head a bit! There are a few other breakfast cocktails available, as well as a variety of bubbles.
Food
Their Breakfast menu is available until 11am daily. What you’ll find on the breakfast menu at Odyssea is more a trendy brunch than your more traditional cooked breakfast. A couple of my family members did point out that breakfast favourites eggs benedict and a “full English” were missing from the menu. Though to remedy this, you can add sides of bacon, sausage and more to your dish.
Choosing something a little different, I devoured the crisp Southern fried chicken ($20) with Aleppo pepper, maple butter, corn bread crumble, kale slaw and a 65oC poached egg. I was so pleased with my choice and very impressed!
My daughter chose the house tea cured salmon ($21), with avocado, watercress, horseradish hollandaise, 65oC poached egg. She follows a gluten free diet and was happy with all the GF options on offer to her.
My husband chose the avocado and roasted beetroot with labne, a kind of hung yogurt ($19), sprinkled with nuts, seeds, spices, and topped with a soft boiled egg. This was all served on loafer’s toast. It is a vegetarian option but hubby just couldn’t resist adding a side of bacon for $6.
Our grandkids had a few options on the children’s menu including fruit and yogurt and eggs and bacon.
Service
We found the friendly wait staff very obliging and genuine. This left us feeling comfortable and welcome at Odyssea.
All in All
Odyssea is a wonderful spot for a summery brunch whilst watching the waves roll in. I found the prices are reasonable, they weren’t as expensive as I was anticipating. With a fresh selection of house-made pastries, tasty food, delicious drinks and beachside dining – it really doesn’t get much better than this. I’d jump at the chance to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and stunning view of the Indian Ocean again.
