Cherith Grove Cafe, Gidegannup

Cherith Grove is an absolute must-visit when in Gidgegannup.

Tucked away in the picturesque Perth Hills, this Gidge gem is spread across 8 hectares of land adorned with olive grove, creating a Mediterranean-like ambiance.

During our visit, we were charmed by the cosy restaurant, offering indoor seating and a lovely alfresco setting on the veranda. The view over the lemon trees and old olive oil press is just lovely.

Renowned for their organic olive oil, there’s not been a pressing for a few years, as the trees had been damaged in the devastating bushfire a few years ago. But with olives ripening on the trees, it looks like this year the organic EVOO may make a comeback! On the cafe menu, you can expect breakfast favourites and gourmet woodfired pizzas. In the cabinet there are plenty of house-baked sweet treats, many of which are gluten free too.

Service is friendly and the coffee was good. We shared a couple of cakes, for morning tea. A raspberry brownie, which was deliciously fudgy and moist. Plus a caramel slice covered in macadamias. Both, gluten free.

The cellar door also offers a selection of local produce and crafts available for purchase.

Plus, a free book library when you can leave a book, and take a book.

Don’t forget to take a leisurely stroll around the grounds. Walk through the olive trees, to the peaceful dam.

Keep an eye out for the ducks and geese that call this place home, plus a couple of cute donkeys.

Take in the intriguing history, including a retired olive crusher. The rustic spot is particularly beautiful in autumn and winter.
