Experience the exhilarating energy of the Australian Youth Orchestra in Concert

The Australian Youth Orchestra will showcase their vivacious energy and incredible skill in a must-see performance at Perth Concert Hall on Friday 14 April at 7.30pm.

The orchestra will transport the audience with their musical colour and sophistication beyond their years as they perform an exhilarating program of Mahler and Shostakovich, under the baton of conductor Eivind Aadland.

This concert marks the first AYO performance in Perth in 12 years, bringing together musicians ranging from 12 to 25 years of age who have undergone a rigorous audition process, including several West Australian talents.

AYO is celebrating its 75^th anniversary as an organisation in 2023. Over the decades, AYO has provided inspiring training opportunities for generations of Australian musicians and continues to develop unique offerings for 21^stcentury musicians, composers, and arts administrators.

Kimbali Harding, Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Youth Orchestra, says the return of AYO to Perth in April is exciting for both the orchestra and Perth audiences:

The performance will feature the heart-wrenching beauty of Mahler’s Adagietto movement from his Fifth Symphony, paired with the tempestuous journey of triumph and despair within Shostakovich’s Tenth Symphony. The combination promises to be an unforgettable evening of music, and an excellent opportunity for music lovers to experience the next generation of classical musicians.
