Avocados Bar & Grill, Kelmscott

Looking for a picturesque brunch spot? Avocados Bar & Grill, in the Kelmscott foothills is close to Araluen Botanic Park and the lovely Perth Hills suburb of Roleystone. Set amongst the backdrop of the Canning River, dining al fresco here will make you feel like you’ve stepped into a Monet dream. The river is covered with lush water lilies.

There are plenty of seating options. Indoors, I bet sitting by the fire in winter is lovely. While under the alfresco deck gives elevated views of the grounds. This is closed in during the cooler months and portable heating keeps the area warm. There are also high bar tables, conveniently located next to the bar.

We pulled up a chair river-side, under shady trees. There’s many large tables right on the riverbank. This makes Avocados ideal for group get togethers.

We were at Avocados for the first time, for coffee and brunch. Of course, I tried the smashed avo dish, with a side of bacon. Usually this would have been served with sourdough bread, but they were out of gluten free bread that day, so the creamy haloumi cheese and avo was served on hash browns. There was plenty of rocket, and a relish too.

My dad almost didn’t finish the big breakfast, it was SO BIG! It came with all the usual suspects, as well as eggs how you like. And of course, it was served with avocado too.

There’s a kid’s menu, sure to please the grandkids. A fenced playground will also occupy them.

If you visit for coffee and cake (the coffee is very good), there is a small cake selection in the cabinet.

And of course, you must take a wander by the beautiful river while your there!
