After a three-year hiatus, Bullsbrook Strawberry Farm has reopened its gates for pick-your-own strawberry season, offering a delightful escape just 45 minutes north of Perth. The farm at 263 Old West Road promises sun-warmed berries at their absolute peak – a world away from the supermarket variety.

The details
Open daily 9am-5pm from 14 August until the season ends, the farm operates on a simple pricing structure: $15 per tray (holding approximately 4.5kg) plus $2 entry per person. Groups of up to five can share a tray, and sampling while you pick is not just allowed but encouraged.
The farm now accepts EFTPOS, eliminating the need for cash, and no advance booking is required.

What’s improved
A significant upgrade sees all picking areas now covered by protective tunnels, meaning weather won’t derail your plans. These structures provide shelter from both sun and light rain while maintaining the open-air experience.

Practical considerations
Plan for an hour of picking time and dress appropriately – closed shoes are essential, and clothes that can handle a bit of soil are wise. The sandy terrain can be challenging for those with mobility concerns, though the tunnel system provides some structure for support.
Basic amenities include portable facilities, though there are no baby-changing areas. Water, sun protection, and any personal items should be brought along.
Getting there and parking
Located conveniently near Outback Splash, the farm is easily accessible via Old West Road. Park on the roadside verge rather than driving onto the property – the sandy soil can trap vehicles.

The experience
These strawberries ripen naturally on the plant, developing the intense sweetness and flavour that only comes with perfect timing. Expect sticky fingers and satisfied smiles – it’s that kind of simple pleasure that makes the short drive worthwhile.
The farm maintains strict food safety standards, so pets aren’t permitted on-site.
