If you’re looking for a relaxed riverside spot for coffee or brunch, Café du Point in Perth is a lovely little find. It’s tucked along the Swan River at Point Fraser, in the On The Point complex, which is home to a handful of restaurants and a brewery. The café looks out over parkland, and there’s a playground opposite, which makes it a handy option if you’ve got grandies or younger kids in tow.
We popped in for a quick coffee while my son was fishing nearby, and it turned into one of those unexpectedly lovely little stops. The outdoor patio is dog friendly, and the staff were genuinely welcoming. They brought out fresh water for my dog Ruby straight away, which was really attentive.
I ordered a flat white and it arrived in a big, pretty mug – strong, smooth and exactly what I needed.
The location is perfect if you feel like stretching your legs before or after your coffee.
There’s a shared path along the river, and you can go for a stroll or even hire a bike or tandem and head off exploring.
It’s also close to the new Boorloo Bridge, which crosses over Heirisson Island to Victoria Park, opening up even more walking options.
On the day we visited there was a large group of older people from Amana Living there, which gave the place a friendly, community sort of vibe. The café that works well for groups, catch‑ups and relaxed mornings by the water.
Café du Point offers a good range of drinks, including loose leaf teas, iced drinks, fresh juices, milkshakes and smoothies. The all‑day breakfast menu is very tempting, with options like Eggs Benedict, smoked salmon rosti, harissa eggs and a classic big breakfast. If you’re more in a lunch mood there are burgers, steak sandwiches and plenty of choices in the cabinet if you just want to grab something quickly or take it away to enjoy by the river.
Parking is paid, with a carpark just off Riverside Drive, but it’s close and convenient, which is always a win. Café du Point is a lovely riverside option for coffee, brunch or a casual meet‑up, with the bonus of dog‑friendly outdoor seating and that great river setting.
