Kalamunda Night Markets

Kalamunda Night Markets

The Perth Hills are welcoming back the hugely popular monthly Kalamunda Night Markets for the summer season! The vibrant street market is held once a month on a Friday night, 6pm until 9pm. As a local resident, I just love seeing Haynes Street really come alive! Last year we visited the night markets, here’s a preview of what you can expect…

Kalamunda Night Markets

Haynes Street is closed to traffic and both sides of the road are lined with a mix of food trucks, hawker food stalls, as well as vintage cars, activities and live entertainment.

Make sure you arrive with a hungry tummy, as you’ll be spoilt for choice with tempting cuisines from all around the world. The big line up of trucks and food vendors changes each month. Here’s a selection of what we tried and who may be there:

Porta Pizza Meatlovers pizza ($16), topped with ham, Italian sausage and bacon.

Kalamunda Night Markets

Delicious nutty satay sticks and rice from Satay Satay.

Our favourite was a “fat Indian” each ($10), from the friendly blokes at the Bombay Knights truck. This was two veggie samosas, a chickpea mesala and chutney.

My husband also loved the ribs, slaw and beans at the Smokin BBQ Bus.

There’s also Vietnamese street food from Banh Mizzle, huge dishes of paella from Paitu Maca, delicious Columbian empanadas from Marcelita’s (Gluten Free), Italian food by The Pasta Truck and many more vendors which change each month. After all that food you may be looking for something healthy for dessert! Our pick is Coco Whip soft serve, which is dairy, gluten and nasty-free dessert made from coconut milk.

On Central Walk (where the weekly farmers markets are held) you’ll find arts, giftware and craft stalls too. The markets are massive! There are loads of buskers around playing live music, and kids activity zone. The entertainment changes for each market and may include a bouncy castles, petting zoo and craft activities.

The Kalamunda Night Markets are dog friendly too.

We love the Kalamunda Night Markets. It can get very busy and I’d recommend getting there early to secure a table, if you’d like to sit and eat.

About Stella B

Stella is loving retirement! Besides her loves of gardening, reading and painting, she adores spending time with her family and being out and about in Perth. Living in the Perth Hills, her time is often spent brunching with her husband at one of Kalamunda’s many cafes or enjoying a food platter over a glass of wine at a Bickley Valley winery.
