Oceans 27, Alkimos

Oceans 27, Alkimos

Another beachside restaurant – another place with good coffee and great views!

Oceans 27 in Alkimos was the place we picked to enjoy our morning tea and coffee recently and it was a good choice. Overlooking the Indian Ocean, near the Alkimos shipwreck at Shorehaven, this restaurant is very popular with locals. It may be a bit out of the way for tourists but it looks worth the effort.

Oceans 27, Alkimos

My husband was very happy with his coffee and my tea was excellent – something that most places do not get right!

The outdoor area is extensive with a variety of seating, including comfortable chairs at the front under umbrellas. Inside tables have a good distance between them and the open kitchen is quite a focal point. A good customer experience is the aim of management (who also run the adjacent Shore Café) and that was certainly delivered by our very friendly server.

We did not eat here but will be going back with our granddaughter to sample the menu that includes breakfast items such as Vanilla hotcakes ($18), Chorizo bruschetta ($22) and even a selection of breakfast cocktails.

The menu for lunch and dinner is divided into Small Share, Big Share and Pizzas as well as a children’s menu. The Small Share has items such as Buffalo wings ($15) and Chorizo quesadilla ($16), Big share includes Chickpea Bhaji burger ($24) and an Open Steak sandwich ($26). Pizzas prices range from $12- $25. It is fully licensed.

Oceans 27 showcases live music and a DJ at the weekends. It’s an interesting concept – creating a family-friendly restaurant that still appeals to other age groups.

Very close to Oceans 27 is the Shorehaven Treasure Island Adventure Playground, which opened earlier this year and is a must for younger grandchildren. There are also shaded bbq areas and beach access as well as a large, grassed area for the kids to let off some steam and the adults to work off lunch…

Parking is right next door and both the restaurant and its restrooms are wheelchair accessible. If you fancy a day out from the trendy Perth cafes and are looking for a beachside venue with a laid-back vibe then Oceans 27 could be your perfect spot. Head north on the Mitchell Freeway, exit at the end (Hester Avenue), turn right onto Marmion Avenue then left a few kilometres up the road onto Shorehaven Boulevard and follow the signs.
