Our Park is situated at the gateway to the Ningaloo Reef and is the ideal location for a family holiday. There are many useful facilities and accommodation types ranging from powered sites to self-contained cabins, so there is something to suit all travellers. RAC Exmouth Holiday Park makes the perfect sanctuary to rest and relax after a day exploring the spectacular coastline, swimming with Whalesharks or fishing the continental shelf.
We stayed at the RAC Exmouth Holiday Park over the Christmas period. Iโll admit we were warned by many that this was not the best time of the year to visit the great north, however besides the wind that never seemed to stop and the blistering heat, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thankfully we chose a chalet over our usual accommodation of choice โ camping. And thank goodness we did. It was HOT and our chalet certainly delivered.ย We had a 2 bedroom, self-contained chalet overlooking the pool. At first we were a little concerned about the noise and privacy, however once the glass sliding doors were closed we hardly heard anything. If the pool area was overcrowded, we would have a swim and then sit up on the chalet deck and still feel like were in amongst the action.

The chalet itself had everything we needed and more. There were 3 air-conditioner units, one in each living space and we pretty much had them running for the duration of our stay. They actually worked too well and weโd turn them down during the evenings.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a big screen tv with all the mod conโs and after our busy days out, were able to plug in our own movies and relax.

The kitchenette was functional with everything we could need and if there were any issues, the staff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. Our Queen bed was very comfortable.

The bathroom was a decent size, clean and modern.

Snacks, icecreams etc could be purchased in a very basic set up at the reception and there was a great clothes/surf shop next door with lots of lovely frocks for a little retail therapy.ย The campground seemed huge.ย We used the camp kitchen which was generally very busy but we enjoyed a meal one night which was pleasant.

There were a lot of patrons in tents and to combat the scorching heat, those who did camp would set out early in the day to explore, spend the afternoon by the pool and then out for the evening at one of the many air-conditioned eateries before heading back once the sun had well and truly set. If you are in a caravan, be sure to have your air-con serviced before hand. You are going to need it!

The pool and the pool area was lovely, however the size was a little disappointing. It was a domestic pool servicing many, many patrons and a few times particularly in the afternoons when people would return from their outings – it was very overcrowded. Hopefully there may be an upgrade in the future. We found before early afternoon was the best time to have a swim, as the water is cool and clean and there are a few lovely gazebo lounges and possibly a shady spot.
Even though this was the off season, everywhere was packed so if you are thinking of making the trek, better plan ahead and book in advance.
Whatever the season, be sure to pack for extreme heat and winds especially when out on day trips.
Overall we enjoyed our chalet stay at the RAC Exmouth Cape Holiday Park and would definitely return.
