Sharky’s, Mandurah

Like Freo, when I’m in Mandurah, usually my go-to lunch is fish and chips. On my latest visit, my usual spot was not where it once was, at Dolphin Quay. After a wander around the indoor markets, I discovered that Sharkey’s is hiding around the back end of the building, overlooking the boats bobbing in the marina.

Everyone at our table was pleasantly surprised both with the quality and quantity of the fish and chips. To say that they’re very generous at Sharkey’s with the portion sizes, would be no exaggeration. Each extra large plate was brimming with hot chips (no chip shortage here!), plus two large fish fillets, covered in golden batter. The side salad makes you feel like you’re being a little healthy too.

The staff at Sharky’s were really helpful too, when I asked them about their gluten-free options. I was really happy with my grilled gluten free fish fillets, and the side salad was no afterthought too, very fresh and well dressed.

Sharky’s has three sections to choose a table in, the indoor main dining area, an alfresco area overlooking the water and a hidden away family dining space that includes a kids playground. Its handy to keep younger children entertained while you eat.

The food is simple at Sharkey’s, but done very well. Other than fish and chips, there’s pizza, steak, salad and more on the menu. I’d definitely return.
