As you step into The Temperance Bar, you’ll be greeted by a lively ambiance that pays a cheeky nod to Northam’s history as a model “Temperance Town” (aka prohibition) from the late 1800s. This intriguing theme adds a unique touch to your visit, inviting you to explore the town’s heritage while enjoying a relaxing drink via the tongue in cheek mural on the bar’s wall. The menu makes for a good read too!
One of the highlights of The Temperance Bar is its impressive selection of wine, beer, cider, and spirits, sourced from the Swan Valley, Perth Hills, and Great Southern wine regions. The ever-changing roster of wines are even available on tap!
The Temperance Bar opens its doors daily from 3 pm, making it an ideal spot for an afternoon escape or a leisurely evening with friends. If you happen to visit on a Saturday night, you’re in for a treat with live music. The menu offers up a selection of share-plate dishes that cater to various palates.
Fish tacos were a hit.
As were fries, salt and pepper squid, a beetroot orange and feta salad, and a cheese plate.
For those who want to extend their stay, the Farmers’ Home Hotel upstairs provides cosy accommodations also beautifully renovated. Dome café is located next door, which is open until late for meals as well as coffee and cake.
