Recently, I stayed in Augusta for a week and it was part of my daily morning mission to suss out the small seaside town’s caffeine offering. Whether you’re staying in Augusta – or just passing through – Thousand Suns Cafe on the main drag is a lovely little pit stop.

Thousand Suns has that relaxed Augusta coutry charm, with miss-matched tables and chairs, friendly service and cakes in the cabinet. You’ll find a selection of savoury bites and sweet treats, along with a brunch menu covering breakfast (with eggs your way, toasted wraps and filled croissant options), served throughout the day. It’s easy to find something light if you don’t feel like a big meal, or something more substantial if you’re fuelling up before sightseeing.

Coffee drinkers are well looked after. The café uses “barista made” coffee, with beans sourced from Central America and roasted locally by The Cape Effect. The result is a smooth, well-rounded cup – exactly what you want on a Southwest morning. If coffee isn’t your thing, there are other hot drinks and chilled options to choose from too, like juices.

The Blackwood Avenue spot is exactly the kind of place you can linger over a good coffee, then have a gentle browse of the nearby shops. Be sure to duck into neighbouring Fluke gift shop and The Flinders Collective while you’re in the neighbourhood for gifts, homewares and local goodies. The cafe itself has a range of clothing and gift to buy too.

The location makes Thousand Suns an ideal base to plan your day’s adventures. Enjoy a leisurely brunch, check out the local shops, then head off to explore Augusta’s coastline, lighthouse and lookouts. For visitors, the easy parking, relaxed vibe and all-day bites make it a very user‑friendly option. Whether you’re staying in town for a few days or simply breaking up the drive, Thousand Suns Cafe is well worth a stop.
