Peninsula Farm Cafe, Maylands

Love your morning coffee with a river view? Then be sure to check out the newly opened (Feb 2023) Peninsula Farm Cafe in Maylands. Brought to you by the people behind the luxurious Bodhi Day Spas, you can bet your bottom dollar that this café is also a quality offering.

You may remember this spot as the old Tranby Tea House. It’s located next to the National Trust’s heritage-listed Peninsula Farmhouse. Which is open to the public.

There’s plenty of signs of a time gone by, including outside laundry.

The cottage cafe has been tastefully renovated. The interior is light and bright and includes comfortable seating.

Outside, under the veranda, and on the paving, there are plenty of tables overlooking the river.

On the morning menu, you’ll find all the usual brunch suspects, with plenty of wholesome options and tasty treats. There’s a lunch menu too, with heartier options, though there is still a smashed avo for late risers and all-day brunchers. We stopped by for a spot of afternoon tea, after the kitchen had closed. Luckily, there were plenty of fresh bakes on the counter for us to choose from. I chose a berry frangipane, washed down with a pot of chai tea.

If you have grandies in tow, little ones can play in the sweet play area. The small play area includes a mini cafe, a well-stocked toy box and nature play elements, like balancing logs.

I’ve heard that this is a very popular spot, so you may want to arrive early to secure a table. There is limited parking next to the farmhouse, it’s best to arrive early or after peak lunchtime. I’ll be back to try brunch, for sure.

The cafe is open 8am to 3pm, Wednesday – Sunday, walk-ins only.
