Bib & Tucker Review
Breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean is what Bib & Tucker promises on its website and breathtaking views are what the customer actually gets.

Situated above the North Fremantle surf lifesaving club at Leighton Beach, Bib & Tucker was set up by three-time, Olympic swimming medalist, Eamon Sullivan with two partners. Sullivan is no slouch in the hospitality industry having had a hand in Subiaco coffee shop, Louis Baxter, the May Street Larder – famous for its brunches, Japanese whisky bar Goody Twos in the CBD and Middle Eastern/Mediterranean eatery Pogo in Mt Hawthorn. He also won Celebrity Masterchef in 2009
Bib & Tucker is certainly a gem in Sullivan’s stable. Overseen by executive chef Scott Bridger, B & T’s kitchen offers breakfast, lunch and dinner a la carte as well as two set menus, priced at $65 and $85.
The ethos of the restaurant is to ‘Love your Local ‘ and nothing is cooked from frozen in B&T’s kitchen – it’s all fresh, seasonal and yes it is sourced locally.
We visited with friends on a busy Friday lunchtime. Comfortable seating is available inside, on the side balcony and on the large front balcony. All staff members were very friendly, helpful and knew their menus. I was pleased to see that servers handled queries about gluten-free food and ingredients with ease.

Our friends ordered the Bibs Burger – Ranger Valley beef, bacon, smoked cheddar, pickles, aioli, rocket and chips ($26), one without the bun. My husband had the Fish Tacos which featured smoked chilli aioli ($16) and I had the Pumpkin Gnocchi – brown butter, sage, kale, goat’s curd, roasted pumpkin, goat’s curd and walnut pangrattato ($34)

I thoroughly enjoyed my gnocchi – it had a silky, smooth texture and was delicious. My husband described his fish tacos as brilliant and wished that he had ordered double. The burgers were also a hit as were the accompanying chips.

Dessert looked good with Banoffee bombe Alaska ($20) a standout dish for me but testing it will have to wait for our next visit.
With an exciting array of restaurants in Fremantle and Cottesloe to contend with, Bib & Tucker certainly holds its own. It is a firm favourite with locals – sitting out on the deck on a sunny afternoon just watching the sea is a real pleasure. An unexpected rain shower could have ruined the day for customers on the balcony but the press of a button to quickly bring down the blinds meant it wasn’t a problem.
Go to Bib & Tucker for the fabulous views, go for the excellent service but above all go to enjoy the delicious food.
