With a successful restaurant running in Leederville, the owners of Curry Munchers have turned their attention to the northern suburbs. The restaurant’s owners obviously don’t take themselves too seriously – by taking a pejorative term and turning into a plus as a name for their businesses.
Opening in Joondalup in July, on a restaurant strip close to the Lakeside Shopping Centre, Curry Munchers is fast becoming a favourite with the locals.
Our seniors group decided to try it our one very busy Saturday night. The interior is bright and airy with Bollywood films playing on the large TV screen. Service is attentive and receptive. As the restaurant caters to takeaway and Uber Eats business there seemed to be a constant stream of food making its way out of the big double doors. And we were very happy with the food that made its way to our table.
The menu is extensive including tandoori items, platters, pan-fried food, biryani and numerous side dishes. BYO is available and the restaurant has a quirky cocktail list.
We decided on a banquet. There are three banquet options – Vegetarian banquet, Non-vegetarian banquet and the Munchers banquet. We opted for the Munchers @ $55 per person. This gave us four entrees (one for each person in each dish) – Samosa, chicken tikka, machi amritsari (very crispy deep fried fish) and lamb chops. The staff were happy to allow us to swap half the samosas for onion bhajis.
For the main course we were served Butter chicken, Lamb rogan josh, Veg handi, Dal makhni and Goan fish curry. We also had plain rice, basmati rice, plain, garlic and kashmiri naans.
Everything was very good and staff encouraged us to ask for the dishes to be replenished. Customers can take home any food that is left after the original serve but not if the dishes are replenished.
The restaurant is currently BYO a definite plus for seniors!
Give Curry Munchers a try – you won’t be disappointed.
