Funk Brewshed, Henley Brook

Love a glass of cider, craft beer or locally made wine? You can get all this, plus excellent food at the Swan Valley spot Funk Brewshed. There has been a few changes at the cidery (previously Funk 2.0), and the first Funk Cider in Caversham has closed, but you’ll still find the same laid-back atmosphere. Funk Brewshed has previously been home to other cellar doors, including the original Evans and Tate winery.

We received a very warm welcome from the staff behind the bar. Al the staff were very personable and knew their stuff when it came to beverages. I loved their original Michael Bros range of non-alcoholic sodas.

There are both indoor and outdoor dining spots. On a chilly winter day, enjoy a cosy table next to the open fireplace.

In warmer months there’s plenty of seating outside under shade sails, by the rows of grapevines.

The menu is a mix of share dishes, as well as larger plates you may, or may not want to share. Think crocodile chorizo (my favourite), juicy chicken wings, curry roasted cauliflower, lamb koftas and hearty gourmet platters perfect for grazing. It’s casual, delicious, and all made for sharing with good company.

The Funk Share board is the perfect size for two or three people to share. Brimming with a selection of cured meats, pork rillette, sourdough bread, olives, pickles, croquettes and an option to add two local cheeses – there’s a lot to love.

If you like craft cider, local wine or beer coupled with good quality food, be sure to visit this spot. Like us, you’ll be sure to want to make a return visit to Funk Brewshed for a tipple or two.
