York’s Imperial Homestead is an impressive country pub. Found in the heart of York, opposite the stunning Town Hall building, the Imperial Homestead is well worth a visit for lunch or dinner. Built in 1886, during the Gold Rush era, the hotel served weary travelers to and from the remote Goldfields of WA.

In recent times, the history packed pub has undergone a transformation. The warm heritage features invite locals and visitors to pull up a chair and experience its rich history and delicious menu full of pub food favourites.

The moment you step through the front doors of the Imperial Homestead, you are transported back to the hotel’s heyday. The pub’s restoration has meticulously preserved its original charm, featuring treasured heritage features that call back to the past, while still maintaining a modern feel.

There’s a range of dining spaces to suit everyone. Whether you seek a cosy corner or the lively dining room near to the indoor bar, the pub offers a welcoming and laid-back Aussie ambiance. We sat in the courtyard, which brims with country character. It’s a lovely spot to sit on a sunny day, or at night, when it’s light with pretty fairy lights.

The Imperial Homestead’s kitchen prides itself on a menu that showcases the best of the Avon region’s produce. With a focus on sourcing local, fresh ingredients, their seasonal menus promise a tasty meal. From reimagined pub classics to modern Australian cuisine, there’s something to please every palate. I really enjoyed the crispy pork belly main, served with saffron potato, green beans, artichokes and a vodka and red fruit coulis.

The Imperial Homestead Pub in York is more than just a dining destination; it’s a living piece of history. If you’re out and about in the Avon Valley, be sure to drop by the Imperial Homestead pub for a tipple and bite to eat in the courtyard. It’s just beautiful!
