Tuart Drive Overnight RV Park
Time Limit: 24 hours
The Tuart Drive Overnight RV is a great place to stop in the region. The only downside is that it is only suitable for self-contained campers. This site is super accessible, calm, and in a beautiful place surrounded by huge pine trees.
This Margaret River free camping spot has plenty of room. However, it fills up pretty fast so if you show up to camp later in the day, it can be very hard to find a spot. There are no toilets on-site, phone service is good, and bookings arenโt required.
Some upsides of this spot include picnic tables, dog-friendly accommodation, state forest views, and plenty of wildlife.

Barrabup Rest Area
Time Limit: None
The Barrabup Rest Area is one of the best free campsites in Margaret River. However, it has no facilities. It has four different campsites and a lovely, calm atmosphere in the heart of the bush.
This means that you can spot many different kinds of wildlife while you stay. You can camp here in either a tent or a vehicle. If you fancy a nice walk, it is close to the forest and theย Barrabup Pool.
The phone service here is only good if you are with Telstra. You can also bring your canine companion along for the trip as this is a dog-friendly free camping spot.

Brockman/Stewart Rest Area
Time Limit: 24 Hours
This lovely free camping spot is located on Brockman Highway. It is a lovely picnic and rest area that currently has some basic facilities such as toilets, wheelchair access, and picnic tables. This spot welcomes self contained campers to enjoy the area.
However, camping in tents and cars is not permitted. There are lovely, spacious spots at this site where you can enjoy the utmost privacy. Better yet, your canine companions are welcome!
Phone service is only good here if youโre with Telstra. People love this site as it is very easily accessible which makes it the perfect spot for those who may be wheelchair bound.

Darradup Roadside Rest Area
Time Limit: None
This spot makes for a nice and quiet overnight stay. You can enjoy complete serenity with pretty much no road noise. There are no amenities here, but you can stay in a fairly expensive area for free, so the lack of amenities isnโt a big issue.
Around 10 caravans can fit here with ease in the thick forest. You can bring your dog along for the trip too. Phone service here is only good with Telstra.

Karri Gully Picnic Site
Time Limit: None
The Karri Gully Picnic Site is situated in a stunning setting and amongst the famous Karri Trees. While it is close to the road, it is very tranquil. You can enjoy the basic amenities at this site.
Theย Bibbulmun Trackย goes straight through this site if youโre interested in heading on a scenic walk. There is quite a bit of space here. While this free campsite is dog-friendly, check for a 1080 poison baits warning if you plan to bring your pup.
This site has toilets, picnic tables, and even BBQs.

Dardanup Hall Car Park
Time Limit: 24 Hours
Dardanupย is a lovely area in the Margaret River region. While this certainly isnโt the prettiest spot to say, it is safe, has the basic amenities, and is close to everything. To stay here, you will need to be self-contained.
Within walking distance, you can find the pub and bakery. With toilets, clean drinking water, phone service, TV reception, and dog-friendly access, you canโt go wrong with this spot.

Chappelโs Bridge
Time Limit: None
With only 3 sites available, you need to get in quickly to secure a spot. Hidden among the tall Karri Trees, this spot is very secluded yet lovely. The road to get to the campsite is very steep and made of gravel, so you will need to ensure that your vehicle can navigate this.
If you want to get away for a few days, this is the spot to be as there is no phone service at all. However, you can enjoy open fire pits, toilets, dog-friendly access, picnic tables, swimming areas, and even walking tracks!

Warren River
Time Limit: None
The Warren River campground is settled in the lovely space of theย Warren National Park. If your goal is to get to a free campsite that will settle you amongst nature, Warren River is where itโs at! There are two different sites to choose from and a creek crossing that is optional.
The wildlife here is absolutely amazing. The birds provide visitors with a stunning, early morning song every single morning. Just make sure you bring plenty of repellent as there are plenty of mozzies around. You can also enjoy all of the 4WD tracks around the site.
Beware, there is no phone service in this area.

Connollyโs Flat
Time Limit: 24 Hours
This free camping spot is super popular when it comes to overnight stays. There are around 5 spots for people to settle in and enjoy the scenery. There is very limited noise from the road after dark and the thick forest usually blocks noise anyway.
You will not be able to camp in tents or cars at this spot. While it is one of the best roadside stops in the region, you need to know that there is no phone service, no toilets, no showers, and no other amenities.

Moons Crossing
Time Limit: 72 hours
Moons Crossing is a stunning little hidden gem in the south west. The few spots available are situated right along the riverbank. You canโt hear anything other than chirping birds and the sounds of quickly flowing rivers.
This scenic site is only available to fully self-contained campers. Try to avoid this spot during the wetter months as the gravel road to get to the site is quite steep. Phone service is non-existent here. Though, you can enjoy swimming, 4WD tracks, and plenty of chances to spot wildlife.

Glen Mervyn Dam
Time Limit: None
Located just outside of the Collie, Glen Mervyn is an exceptional place to go camping. If you want to spend a few days just enjoying life by the water, going fishing, kayaking, or even swimming in clean water, this is the place to be.
While the road in can be a bit rough, it is all worth it as this destination is absolutely incredible. There are plenty of different campsites for you to choose from during your stay. You can choose to sit right alongside the water, or you can even go deeper into the forest.
Glen Mervyn is very close toย Black Diamondย which is one of Collieโs most popular lakes. You can also head into Donnybrook and take your kids to theย Apple Fun Parkย which has just recently been significantly upgraded. This excellent spot is only roughly 218 km from Perth.

Capel RV Stop
Time Limit: 24 Hours
This camping area is the perfect place to spend your stopover in Capel. There are three campsites available, and they are all within walking distance of the most popular places in the country town of Capel. You can enjoy this quiet spot to the fullest extent as it never gets too crowded as it is very secluded.
It is only suitable for self-contained campers. It is very close to a nice creek that you can spend time at with the whole family. You can also bring your canine companion along as there is a dog park right down the road and you can also take them to the river right near your campsite.
Better yet, there is full phone service here and TV reception!
