A Cheese and Chocolate Tour of Margaret River
Margaret River Dairy Company
The Margaret River Dairy Company is a very well-loved and adored success story from WA. In fact, you will most likely recognize their branding from a mile away in many supermarkets across WA! I don’t know of anyone who doesn’t know of this great destination.
When you’re in Margaret River, you have to do a trip to their small retail space. Here, you will be able to taste things such as camembert, brie, cheddar, and even yoghurt right where it is made. The Margaret River Dairy Company even made the news back in 2018 due to receiving the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Cheese Tasting in which over 500 people took part!
You can also chat with the friendly staff about upcoming product releases as they are always working on something exciting and new. This way, you can taste test and observe things that are only just in their research and development phase. We think it is pretty special!
This spot is almost always on the itinerary when you’re visiting Margaret River, and that is because it is a great place to visit. Just make sure you’re ready to blow away your tastebuds with deliciousness at this cheese factory. The dairy produce here is award-winning and delicious.
These guys are proudly crafting gourmet cheese and yoghurts in the south west as some of the most well known artisan cheese makers. Grab a sample, relax, and enjoy everything this gorgeous location in Western Australia has to offer.

The Margaret River Farmers Market
Who doesn’t love a good market? Every Saturday morning, you can find the Margaret River Farmers Market just south of the main street. Rain, hail, or shine, the show goes on to provide the Margaret River community with some great items. Most of all, people love the cheese on offer here.
Here, you can find some amazing haloumi cheese amongst a whole host of cheeses from Koonac Heidi Goat Cheese. Everything comes directly from the milk of their Heidi goat herd who live on lush green pastures. How is that for fresh?
At the markets, you will also find Cambray Sheep Cheese. These guys make some truly aromatic camembert-style cheese and a lovely, herbed cream cheese. If you’re searching for quality cheese, this is the place you will find it as a visitor.
The two places listed above use only the best ingredients possible to create their speciality cheeses. You’ll be able to immediately see and taste just how much love and compassion goes into the cheeses.
Location: Lot 272 Bussell Highway, Margaret River

Margaret River Chocolate Company
There is not a human around these days that does not know about the Margaret River Chocolate Company. This amazing place offers free tastings of milk, white, and dark chocolate that will blow your mind. Here, you will also find coffee, truffles, cakes, and a variety of boxed chocolates for your convenience.
While they don’t really shout about it, you will be happy to know that this awesome company is committed to helping with some pretty important environmental issues. Back in 2015, around 500 quokkas were wiped out in the Northcliffe fires. The Margaret River Chocolate Company donated funds to go towards 30 radio collars that allow the quokkas to be tracked.
Now, the population is beginning to do well and thrive once again. Now, there are over 300 quokkas in the fire-affected area. Next time you head in, buy a Chocca the Quokka so that you can help to support quokka conservation and research.
Chocolate that gives back? We think yes. It is certainly an interesting way to enjoy some guilt-free chocolate.

Gabriel Chocolate
Gabriel Chocolate is a true and authentic bean-to-bar producer. Everything you find here is made in-house. Better yet, this destination is entirely family owned and operated to ensure quality, passion, and commitment to everything produced.
Here, you will find ice creams, cakes, hot chocolates, cookies, and so much more than just chocolate. The cacao beans here are sourced from around the world and used to create single-origin bars. Back in 2018, they were the proud winners of the Best Dairy Producer Award at the Royal Show for their ice creams.
They completely beat all other milk and yoghurt producers. Every single ice cream flavour they entered at the Royal Show won a medal which is definitely saying something. If you get the chance, try out a warmed chocolate chunk cookie. They are simply addictive.
Location: Corner Caves and Quininup Road, Yallingup
