If you love Hillary’s Boat Harbour, but perhaps are looking for something more compact, head a little further north to Mindarie Marina. You’ve got a marina packed with dining options, plenty of places to stop for a cuppa (or something stronger), a scenic foreshore trail, calm water for paddlers, and it’s all within a compact space, with plenty of free parking. Here’s our big guide to Mindarie.

Things to Do in Mindarie
Soak up the holiday feel at Mindarie Marina. With boats bobbing, plenty of waterfront cafes and restaurants, a relaxed boardwalk vibe and beautiful views, it’s an easy spot to wander and stop for a bite to eat. Be sure to stop by the lovely ‘The Little Artisan Gift Co’ boutique for a browse of gifts and ladieswear too.

Enjoy a scenic stroll? The paved Mindarie Foreshore Trail is a coastal path that runs from Mindarie Keys Beach towards Quinns Rocks (5.3km, one way). This is ideal for walkers and bikes thanks to its gentle gradients. You can walk as far as you like. Along the way, there are lots of benches to stop and enjoy the view.

If you’ve got grandkids in tow, Rosslare Park has room to run around, shallow water to paddle in, and a fenced playground. It’s a pretty spot to bring a coffee and take five while the kids burn off energy. And if you’re adventurous, why not head out on a SUP (stand-up paddleboard)?

Dining in Mindarie
If you’re after a pub-style meal, The Boat is always a solid go-to. It suits long lunches, easy dinners, or afternoon drinks without needing to head into the city. Bonus: it’s very visitor-friendly, great if you’re showing off WA to friends. If you have grandkids with you, the neighbouring Lifeboat summer bar pop-up includes a handy playground. For an easy, social stop that suits everything from casual lunches to afternoon catch-ups, Indian Ocean Brewing Company is a great option. It has that breezy marina feel, where you can settle in, take your time over top craft beers, and enjoy the atmosphere. Read more in the Seniorocity review.

If you’re chasing something different (and a little bit festive), On the Border Mexican Grill is a lively pick. It’s especially handy for groups and family outings with plenty of variety, bold flavours, and even a cheeky Donald Trump mural. The Tex-Mex spot is found just outside the marina. My personal favourite, for a brunch in Mindarie, Sistas is ideal when you feel like a coffee break, something sweet after a marina wander, or a breakfast meet-up with a friend. The brunch menu is diverse and delicious, and the coffee is great. Read more in the Seniorocity review.

Have dogs with you? Union Kitchen is a good choice for brunches and lunches, as your furry friends are very welcome here and even have their own menu. It’s got that lively marina energy, with water views. Read more in the Seniorocity review

If you’re doing Mindarie properly, you’ll want to leave room for a gelato from Six Degrees (especially on a warm day). There’s also an Indian restaurant dinner option, which is a nice change of pace when you feel like something warming, fragrant, and share-plate friendly.

Places to Stay in Mindarie
If you’d rather not rush home, staying near the water is the easiest way to stretch Mindarie into a mini break. The Marina Hotel keeps you close to the action with morning strolls, leisurely meals, and everything in easy, walkable reach. Perfect for a relaxed overnight, waking up with marina views.
