You and your family can pick your own delicious strawberries. It is a fun activity to do with the whole family over the school holidays or with your friends. Invitation to pick your own strawberries is normally on the weekends. Each strawberry farm will have their opening times, so it is recommended you confirm before you leave. When you arrive you will find the strawberry farms have an allocated area for the public to pick strawberries from. There are rows and rows of fresh, succulent, juicy strawberries for you to pick from.
You’ll be provided with a large box capable of holding approximately 3 kilograms of strawberries. This season, most strawberry farms offering Pick-Your-Own (PYO) experiences are charging $15 per box.
My grandchildren had an amazing time picking and eating strawberries. I think the red-stained faces gave it away. Their little hands could only hold so much, so maybe take a small bucket for the children so they can put the strawberries into, and then transfer into the box. With the spring weather being beautiful and sunny, it is a good idea to wear a hat, apply sunscreen and take a bottle of water.

Strawberries are a great addition to any smoothie, fruit salad, cheesecake or decoration to a pavlova or cake.
They are packed full of vitamins, fibre and high levels of antioxidants. Just one serving, about 8 strawberries, provides more vitamin C than an orange. I am going to sit back on this sunny spring day and enjoy my healthy strawberry smoothie and indulge in a custard and strawberry tart or two.
