DeCafé at Darlington Estate, Darlington

I’d been to the delightful Darlington Estate around a decade ago for a wedding, and it was almost 10 years to the day I popped by to check out the Perth Hills winery’s new café. The rustic DeCafé, is found amongst bushland, next to the wineries’ main dining room. There’re indoor and outdoor tables available. Inside, there’s a small kids toy corner too (good for toddlers). Outside, there are a few tables overlooking the carpark, some with umbrellas.

I’ve had the local Little Owl coffee roast before, and knew that it’s top notch. My flat white was served with a smile and went down a treat. I just wish I’d ordered a larger mug, not a cup.

The little café serves up a BIG breakfast! While I opted for a lighter option, my son’s smashed avocado dish with perfectly fried egg (sunny side up, nice and runny), smashed avo (under the egg), and beetroot humus on sourdough was so filling. It is drizzled with a little chilli oil, for a kick. This can be ordered on the side too. I ordered the dish with a side of crisp bacon.

If you’re looking for something lighter, how about a wobbly panna cotta with gluten free granola? I enjoyed this, served with some fresh strawberries. But I’m not going to lie – I did pick a couple of pieces of the crisp bacon from my teenage son’s plate!

The café is open Friday to Sunday, 7am to 2pm. Be sure to drop by for breakfast, brunch coffee and cake or lunch. Be sure head to DeCafé soon!
