Hibernian Place, Perth

Move over Yagan Square and Elizabeth Quay, there is a new block in town that is ready and waiting to take over the trendiest area in Perth title – it’s in the East End of Perth’s CBD and it’s called Hibernian Place.

Anchored by the five star Westin Hotel, Hibernian Place was architecturally designed to fit in with existing buildings such as the heritage-listed Hibernian Hall and the old Central Fire Station.  It opened in 2018.

The concept includes a Central Plaza that will hold a calendar of events, especially during the summer months. The 2000 sqm Plaza is a green space with manicured lawns, a water feature, trees complete with bird boxes, an outdoor stage and stone/timber outdoor furniture. Wi-Fi hotspots make it ideal for those who need to be connected 24/7 and foodies will love the eclectic mix of bars and eateries, many with outdoor seating.

Do you like modern Australian food? Give Arthur & Co a try. Or perhaps Italian is more to your taste, Garum restaurant has you covered. Are you more of a chips and burger person? Popular Melbourne chain Huxtaburger is the place to go. More adventurous? Goody Twos is a serious Japanese whiskey and cocktail bar serving interesting ‘bites’ of food. Hadiqua’s rooftop venue could also be the place for those who enjoy spice and variety with its Middle Eastern and Mediterranean menu. Perhaps you are just looking for coffee and maybe a salted caramel doughnut – look no further than Offshoot, which is a breakfast/coffee shop venue by the Perth café specialists – the Mary Street Bakery.

If you are feeling rather full after indulging in one of these restaurants, Hibernian Place also offers the perfect spot to recover – the Bodhi J Wellness Spa.

Hibernian Place is about 10 minutes walk to Elizabeth Quay and a few minutes to the Murray Street Mall. Car parking is available in the Wilson Murray Street car park and the nearest train stations are Perth and McIvor. If mobility is a problem, access Hibernian Place from Murray Street, as the stairs from Hay Street are quite steep.

We have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who live in different parts of the globe – New Zealand, Scotland and Colombia - which makes a great excuse for us to travel and visit.
