On our first visit to Perth on holiday back in 2003, we stumbled across Caffe Italia in East Perth, an authentic Italian restaurant run by Roberto Lazzi. From that trip, and subsequently, since moving here, Caffe Italia became a firm favourite of ours over the years.
In May 2022, Caffe Italia was renamed Roberto’s on Bennett and moved location to Bennett Street, East. And WOW, what a transformation! The new restaurant is absolutely stunning!
The new location offers a more intimate, sophisticated dining experience, with private booth seating and live piano music.
There is also a private dining room at the rear of the restaurant that can seat from 8 to 30 guests.
The menu features classic Italian dishes, including pasta, pizza and seafood dishes. All of the food is cooked to perfection and is very flavourful. The pizzas are some of the best we have ever had! Before we moved to Perth, we always used to comment that we had travelled 9000 miles just for one of their pizzas!
I ordered the Gnocchi Al Gorgonzola, Pere e Noc which was gnocchi cooked in Gorgonzola sauce with sweet pears and walnuts. It was divine but very rich, and I couldn’t eat it all, but they were more than happy to provide me with a container so I could take the leftovers away.
The wine list is extensive and includes both Australian and Italian wines. BYO is no longer allowed. Roberto’s on Bennett is home to a spectacular Onyx stone bar that serves an exclusive range of signature cocktails that are made with fresh ingredients and are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
The service is professional and attentive, and the atmosphere is refined yet welcoming.
The bathrooms are modern, clean and spacious and are located at the rear of the restaurant.
Whether you’re looking for an intimate dinner for two or a night out with family or friends, Roberto’s on Bennett is sure to please. With great food and drinks, the restaurant is perfect for any occasion.
