The Carine Glades Tavern

Tucked away on Beach Road in Duncraig is The Carine Glades Tavern. It is a huge place comprising a TAB, Sports bar, Bottle store and Bistro.

And it was the Bistro that my husband and I visited during the school holidays. As there is a playground for younger children and childrenโ€™s meals are on the menu, it was obviously a magnet for locals with young children.

There is a huge outdoor area and a good-sized indoor one. We chose to sit indoors on the comfortable, contemporary seating. Our only criticism of the layout is that the tables for two people are too close together, which made us unwilling listeners to the next tableโ€™s conversation!

The menu is extensive with sharing plates to start, a host of main meals, a seniors menu (Oldies are Goodies, all priced at $14, Monday to Friday, 11:30am โ€“ 3pm).

My husband was keen on the Chilli Mussels ($24) however they were not available and he decided on the Loaded Pork ribs ($20).ย  These small sticky ribs were piled with jalapenos, melted Cheddar cheese and crispy fried shallots. And they were good.

I selected the old favourite, a 300g Scotch fillet with chips, garden salad and mushroom sauce ($35). I ordered my steak medium rare but it was served medium. As it was quite tasty and the mushroom sauce was delicious, I decided not to send it back but did inform the server.

Service was friendly but quite slow. Tables were vacated but not cleared for a while. It was a busy Thursday lunchtime so perhaps the restaurant was short-staffed.

It was a good lunch and we had plenty of time to enjoy our glasses of WA wine โ€“ The Carine is a pleasant haven at one end of the busy Carine Glades shopping Centre.

To entice the public to eat at The Carine, there are numerous specials. All day Tuesday โ€“ kids eat free. All day Wednesday, for just $15, patrons can enjoy a โ€˜Parmy or Schnitty.โ€™ Thursday night is steak night โ€“ Rump steak with chips and salad ($15) from 6pm. And a quiz night is also held every Thursday. There is an accessible entry and accessible restrooms.

Outside the restaurant and in the shopping centre, there is plenty of parking but also plenty of locals so parking can be difficult at times.
