Miss Chow’s, Margaret River

If you enjoy a leisurely lunch in beautiful surrounds, Miss Chow’s Margaret River is a spot worth adding to your down south list. Found at the fabulous Edwards Estate in Cowaramup, this modern Asian restaurant offers something a little different in the wine region other than the usual stylish dining room with vineyard views. Miss Chow’s also has a menu full of fresh, flavour-packed Asian dishes designed for sharing.

From the moment you walk in, it feels like a special place for a relaxed lunch. The dining room is airy and elegant, with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the vines and surrounding bushland. It’s polished without feeling stuffy, and the comfortable seating makes it easy to settle in for a long lunch. The drinks menu is well worth a look too, with everything from local wines to playful cocktails and refreshing mocktails. Of course, I just had to sip an Edwards Rose.

One of the real highlights here is the menu, especially if you’re dining with someone who is gluten-free (like me). There’s a strong focus on gluten-free and gluten-free option dishes, and the food is also free from MSG and artificial additives (which give me migraines). I’m sure many diners will appreciate this fresh approach. The menu is ideal for sharing, so it suits couples or small groups wanting to try a few different things. Standout dishes include the gluten-free steamed dumplings, filled with chicken and mushroom, pork and chives, and prawn and chives. The pan-seared WA scallops are another memorable dish, served with truffle butter and topped with delicate tobiko.

The kingfish sashimi was fresh and delicately dressed, with a zingy citrusy brightness, while the crispy Wagyu dumplings were golden, crunchy and packed with rich, savoury flavour.

For something more substantial, we relished the braised beef cheeks; rich, tender and full of soul warming flavour, perfect on a cool Margaret River day.

And if you order just one side, make it the prawn and black truffle fried rice with shiitake. Fragrant, comforting and absolutely delicious.

A visit here pairs beautifully with a stop at the neighbouring Edwards cellar door and Flow Gallery, making it more than just a meal. A visit here is a lovely afternoon outing in itself.

If you’re planning a trip to Margaret River and want somewhere scenic, welcoming and a little bit special for lunch, Miss Chow’s Margaret River is well worth booking.
