Jalbrook Estate – Self-contained superbly appointed deluxe accommodation in rammed earth cottages set among parkland gardens. Steaming candle-lit spas, king beds, fabulous views ,huge day beds on spacious decks, alpaca snuggle rugs ,crackling log fires, breakfast baskets, papers delivered, and amazing bird life. This premiere retreat is THE perfect getaway to rejuvenate and re-connect.Jalbrook Estate is a gorgeous hidden gem worth a visit when in the Balingup area.Â
Run by the very accommodating and welcoming owners, Allen and Jan, Jalbrook boasts 6 rammed earth cottages lined up beside the beautiful Blackwood River. There is a lovely sense of peace and isolation from each individual cottage.
The deck and day bed provide spectacular views for lovers of nature and is the perfect spot for avid photographers. The only noise one hears are the birds and water flowing. It really is majestic to wind down to.Â
We stayed in the Corella Cottage which boasts a lovely 4 post bed, a deck jacuzzi looking over the forest and a cosy fire for chilly nights.
The cottage was perfect with lots of homely touches like homemade soaps in the bathroom, chocolates on the pillows, fresh eggs from their owners chickens and freshly baked bread – which is complimentary for the first morning.
The kitchenette has everything you need to be self-sufficient. Be sure to get your supplies earlier in the day as most places shut shop early in the small town of Balingup only minutes away.Â
The grounds are huge and there are plenty of opportunities to take a walk and explore the gardens and all that is on offer.
There is plenty to see with many interesting sculptures and artwork scattered around the exquisite gardens.Â
Jalbrook also hosts the Jalbrook Concert Series running from November to April with popular and well known acts like Kate Ceberano, Todd McKenney and many more.
Jalbrook is also a great choice when the Balingup Medieval Festival runs in October. But be sure to get in quick, the cottages do get snapped up!
