The Local’s Porter, Kinross

The Local's Porter, Kinross

My Yorkshireman husband is always on the lookout for an authentic Pork Pie, though besides the Black Pig Deli in Inglewood, he’s never found any like they’re made in England. We’d recently heard of a British Bakery in the northern suburbs, so had set off to see their wares, but found them closed due to building repairs. What we did find, a few doors down, was a lovely little coffee shop – the Local’s Porter in Kinross.

The Locals Porter is the kind of spot you’d only know about unless you live in the area, being off the beaten track. There’s lots of people popping by for takeaways, as well as there being plenty of sofas and tables available for those who’d like to linger a little longer. In the cabinet are sweet and savoury bite – freshly made rolls, cakes and raw treat, mostly baked in house.

Since we weren’t in a hurry, we sat at a high table, where we enjoyed a very good coffee and tea, served in disposable cups. We did say we were dining in, so I assume the Local’s Porter don’t serve drinks and food on mugs and plates.

My husband and I shared a delicious carrot cake – our go-to dessert for enjoying without feeling too much guilt. It is a serve of vegetables after all!

My daughter enjoyed a house made salted caramel raw slice.

I’m a chatter, and I was pleased that the ladies at the Local’s Porter are friendly and happy to stop for a chat too. We got some handy indoor plant tips from one of the owners. If you’re in the area, be sure to support local and stop by at The Local’s Porter for a cuppa.
