Situated on the roundabout at the intersection of Bussell Highway and Caves Rd is The Shed Markets, a very interesting place to visit and enjoy the atmosphere. It is built of corrugated iron that resembles a barn, it has a rustic, farm shed feel that’s warm and sort of quirky, so don’t be put off by outside appearances, it is this look that creates a chance to enjoy that country easy going shopping experience. The idea behind The Shed Markets is to support local farmers, producers, artisans and small business enterprises and community.Once inside you could be surprised at the variety of stalls, there is a little plant nursery, a fashion and gift shop, a butcher, a very good fruit and vegetable shop, a health food shop and quaint coffee shop where you can have a coffee and cake and rest in some large lounge chairs, there are many other surprises as you wander about. In a garden area adjacent to The Shed is an area called Eat Street. Set out with a number of food trucks, with nice trees and grass and picnic furniture, it is a lovely spot to relax for a light lunch. The carpark is right at the front door and there are toilets for the disabled. The Shed Markets are open 9am to 5pm Thursday till Sunday, and Eat Street is open Thursday Saturday Sunday from 9am to 3pm and Friday from 9am till 8pm.On the Friday night they have a guest artist to entertain you while you are enjoying your evening meal, Eat Street is only a small area which does give it that intimate feel, just the perfect place to spend time with friends and family. The Shed Markets are an absolute delight, I would be surprised if your first visit isn’t one of many.
