Edenvale Heritage Precinct, Pinjarra

Set off the main road through Pinjarra, Edenvale Heritage Precinct is a lovely place to visit. The historic homestead was built in 1888 by Edward McLarty. He was the son of pioneering farmers John and Mary McLarty, who had arrived in the Swan River Colony in 1839 from Campbelltown in Scotland.

The large 17-room Victorian-era house was surrounded by many outbuildings, several of which remain today and are used for several different things. It’s a great little place to explore – especially if you’re a history buff!

The heritage village is a delightful spot where you can enjoy several things, an authentic Devonshire tea in the Edenvale Heritage Tea Rooms, browsing arts and crafts, or visiting the machinery museum.

The Tea Rooms overlook the beautiful heritage rose gardens, also worth a wander around. There are many different roses blooming including ancient species (wild) roses, spring-flowering European, Chinese, 20th Century ramblers and classic hybrid teas. Peak blooming time for roses is around October, blossoms can be seen year-round here.Edenvale Heritage Precinct

At the Pinjarra Art Hub’s concept store you’ll find a beautifully curated collection of locally-made products.

Take a wander  around the painting, glasswork, jewelry, lead lighting, leatherwork, pottery, textiles, wood, yarn and more. There’s some stunning giftware too.

The Roger May Machinery Museum is home to historical and rare vehicles, machinery and farming equipment from days gone by. Great for a walk down memory lane.

At Liveringa, local artists showcase their works, hold exhibitions and run an artist in residence program.

You’ll also find the local Historical Society, as well as “Patchwork & Quilts” which is housed in the Old School House.
