Esperance Stonehenge

Esperance Stonehenge

For all lovers of historical monuments, Stonehenge on the outskirts of Esperance is an absolute MUST visit! You will not be disappointed.Esperance StonehengeHaving visited the original Stonehenge many moons ago, we were a little skeptical that this modern version would live up to the hype. It certainly does and because it is a replica of what Stonehenge probably would have looked like when it was originally built around 1950BC, the sight of it is simply breathtaking.Esperance StonehengeBirthed from a passion for history and part of their semi-retirement plan, owners Kim and Jillian Beale are very friendly and welcoming – after all this is their home! Imagine waking up to that view every morning!Esperance StonehengeConsisting of 137 stones of Esperance Pink Granite sourced from the nearby quarry, this is the only full size replica outside of the UK and it is huge!Esperance StonehengeYou can takes as long as you like to explore and enjoy this mammoth work of wonder!
Esperance StonehengeThis is a photographers dream and not only can you capture some amazing angles of the monument itself, but the backdrop is stunning also.Esperance StonehengeThis was such a well thought out labour of love, paying homeage to the Summer and Winter Solstices that on those specific dates the suns rays align and shine in spectacular fashion.Esperance StonehengePlenty of parking and they sell refreshments of tea, coffee, soft drinks and ice creams, as well as Stonehenge memorabilia and souvenirs of both the monument and of Esperance.Esperance StonehengeOnly 15 minutes out of Esperance it really is worth the short drive especially on a sunny day, though it would be impressive no matter the weather!Esperance StonehengeThis really is one for the itinerary that is sure to impress!Esperance StonehengeWhere: 4323 Merivale Road, Esperance, WA 6450

About Kerry Lane

I am 67 years of age and retired. I was born and bred in Perth but now live with my husband, Michael, in Albany, Western Australia. We have four children and six grandchildren. I have always enjoyed sports but my passion was basketball in which I played and attained State level. I coached at both junior and senior levels. I was also the team manager for the Perth Quit Breakers (now known as the Perth Lynx) for many years and was on the Board of the WA Basketball Association. I worked for Woodside Energy for 19 years before transferring to Darwin with my husband, also a Woodsider, who took up management of the Northern Territory operations of the company. I was the Private Secretary to the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory Govt. during my time there before retiring. My husband and I then travelled around Australia in a caravan for a year before finally settling for a seachange in Albany. We built a house at beautiful Goode Beach, joined the Albany Golf Club and started to explore our surrounds. We have made many friends since arriving in Albany and family and friends from near and far enjoy visiting and experiencing our part of the world. We are heavily involved in the Golf Club which keeps us busy. I enjoy reading, wining, dining, good friends and still love to travel both here in Oz and overseas.
