Lightscape has returned to Kings Park and Botanic Garden from 5 June to 26 July 2026, bringing a brand-new illuminated trail to one of Perth’s most beautiful outdoor spaces. If you’re looking for something special to do on a winter evening, this glowing after-dark experience is a lovely way to enjoy Kings Park in a completely different light.

Set within the Western Australian Botanic Garden, Lightscape 2026 features more than 20 light and sound installations, including new works by international artists as well as pieces inspired by the Perth community. The result is an atmospheric trail filled with colour, movement, music and moments of wonder.

The trail stretches for almost 2 kilometres, winding through the gardens with a series of illuminated artworks along the way. Expect glowing pathways, large-scale floral displays, colourful tunnels of light, immersive soundscapes and striking installations that make the park feel beautifully transformed after dark.

It’s a gentle and enjoyable evening walk, with plenty of opportunities to pause, take photos and simply take in the atmosphere. While Lightscape is popular with families, it is equally well suited to couples, friends, visiting relatives or anyone who enjoys gardens, art, photography and a memorable night out in Perth.

Food and drinks are available as part of the experience, adding to the winter outing feel. Visitors can enjoy hot chocolate, warm food and sweet treats, with food trucks located near the event entrance. There are also fire pits where marshmallow toasting is available, making it a cosy addition to the evening.

For those who prefer a quieter night out without children around, Lightscape 2026 includes two adults-only evenings on 10 June and 1 July. These sessions could be a great option for a date night, a relaxed evening with friends, or simply a chance to enjoy the installations at a slower pace.

As the event takes place outdoors, it’s worth dressing warmly. Kings Park can feel quite chilly after dark during winter, so a warm jacket, scarf, beanie and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The trail is around 1.8 kilometres, but many visitors spend longer than expected stopping for photos and refreshments, so allow around 90 minutes for a relaxed visit.

Parking in and around Kings Park can be limited during busy sessions, especially on weekends and during school holidays. If you’re driving, allow extra time to find a parking spot and be prepared for a short walk to the entrance. Public transport may be a convenient option, with the free Blue and Purple CAT buses from the Perth CBD providing access nearby.
Lightscape has quickly become one of Perth’s most popular winter events, and it’s easy to see why. It offers a chance to get outdoors during the cooler months, enjoy the beauty of Kings Park after dark, and experience large-scale light art in a truly scenic setting.

Whether you’ve visited before or are planning your first Lightscape evening, the 2026 event promises plenty of glowing photo opportunities, immersive installations and a memorable night beneath the stars.
