Escape This, Northbridge

Have you challenged yourself to a mind-boggling Escape Room?! The craze that is sweeping Perth is bound to get you hooked. Grab your family, or a group of friends and prepare for an hour of searching for clues and solving puzzles to escape the room. At Escape This, in the heart of Northbridge, there are lots of different themed escape room challenges to choose from.

Each escape room comes with a scenario and many brain teasing games to complete in order to unlock the door and beat the clock! There’s a bank robbery themed room, a wizard escape room that suit all ages.

The horror/thriller rooms with themes of Cannibal, Dracula and buried alive are more suited for adults. Enter if you dare!

We were there to solve puzzles in the brand-new pirate-themed room. On arrival, we checked in on the touch screens and locked away our phones, smart watches and bags in a secure locker – just to make sure there’s no cheating and no secrets get out.

A friendly hosts gave us a run-through of how the rooms work, as this was the first time in an escape room for our group of eight. She led us through a mysterious corridor, with doors leading to many themed rooms.

The new Pirate Island room is themed from the get-go. On the outside, you look as though you could be entering a Pirate’s beach shack in the Caribbean. It certainly set the scene for our task at hand. We had 60 minutes on the clock to complete all the puzzles and challenges in the room.

There’s isn’t much that I can tell you specifically about the actual room. The set is high quality, with lots of pirate themed props, sound effects and challenging problems. Be ready to get your thinking caps on to crack codes, search high and low for hidden clues and expect the unexpected. We hit a dead end and luckily as the room is monitored by CCTV, all we had to do was wave at the camera and a helpful hint was given to get us on our way again.

We solved the many puzzles in under an hour. It was lots of fun and the children and adults all worked together. Everyone had lots of input and their fair share of discoveries. It’s a good activity for older grandchildren. In our group we had 10, 12 and 13 year olds and everyone young and old had a ball. We would certainly challenge ourselves to another Escape Room in future. You and your team will have lots of fun – being locked in an escape room and immersed in a fantasy scenario, using clues to beat the clock. It’s a good idea to invite your smarted friends!
